Spain’s Digital Nomad Visa lets non-EU remote workers live legally in Spain while continuing to work for companies or clients based abroad.
Spain’s Digital Nomad Visa is a residency initiative designed for remote workers, freelancers, and business owners who earn their income from outside of Spain.
Once approved, you and your family gain full legal residency, access to public healthcare, the ability to enrol your children in state schools, and visa-free travel across the 26-country Schengen area. After five continuous years of legal residence you become eligible for permanent EU residency, and after ten years you may apply for Spanish citizenship.
There are two routes to apply. You can submit through a Spanish consulate in your home country for a one-year visa, or enter Spain, either visa-free or on a tourist visa, and apply from within the country for a three-year permit.
Either way, document gathering should begin well in advance, as the application requires certified and apostilled paperwork that takes time to obtain. Our team will advise on the best route for your situation and manage the entire process on your behalf.
To qualify for the Spain Digital Nomad Visa, you must satisfy the following statutory requirements.
You will need to demonstrate a minimum monthly income of €2,849 as a single applicant, which represents 200% of Spain’s minimum wage. If you are applying alongside a spouse or partner, this threshold increases by €1,068 per month, and each additional dependent child adds a further €350 per month to the required total.
Your employment or business activity must be carried out remotely for companies or clients based outside of Spain. At least 80% of your total income must originate from non-Spanish sources, and this requirement applies equally whether you work as an employee, a freelancer, or a business owner.
If you are employed, you will need a contract or letter from your employer confirming that remote work is permitted. Freelancers must demonstrate an active client relationship through invoices or signed contracts. In either case, your employer or business must have been operating for at least one year prior to your application.
You must hold a university degree from a recognised institution, or be able to demonstrate at least three years of relevant professional experience in your field. There is no requirement for the degree or experience to be in any specific subject area.
You will need comprehensive private health insurance that provides full coverage in Spain for the entire duration of your visa or residence permit. The policy must not include any coverage gaps, co-payments, or shortages, and must be with a provider recognised in Spain.
You must have no criminal convictions in any country you have lived in during the past five years. The background check must be apostilled and is only valid for three months from the date of issue if you are applying from within Spain, or typically up to six months if applying through a Spanish consulate abroad.

As a first time buyer in Spain, I was really naive to the process. Yiannis processed my application expertly. Communication was excellent and the process really helped to manage my stress levels. Thank you, I would definitely recommend this business.

Everything you need to know about the Estonian Digital Nomad Visa application process
The full process typically takes 6 to 10 weeks. Once we submit an application from within Spain, the government’s standard processing time is around 20 business days. The longest part is usually gathering your paperwork, since several of your documents, from criminal record certificates to marriage and birth certificates, need to be apostilled and sworn-translated, which is why we recommend starting your document collection early.
Yes, and for most of our clients it is the better route. Whether you enter visa-free, as travellers from the US, UK, Canada, or Australia do, or on a Schengen tourist visa, you can apply from within Spain and receive a three-year permit. The alternative is applying through the Spanish consulate in your home country, which grants a one-year visa first. Our team will advise on the best route for your situation before anything is submitted.
You need to show a monthly income of at least €2,849 as the main applicant, earned from companies or clients based outside Spain, with evidence covering the last six months. If you bring family, the requirement rises to around €3,917 for a couple, with a smaller additional amount for each child.
Absolutely. Your spouse or partner and dependent children can be included in the same application, and once approved the whole family gains full legal residency, access to public healthcare, and the ability to enrol children in state schools. Adult dependents are added at 50% off the package price, and children at 75% off.
Choose Essentials if you are comfortable submitting the application yourself and want our legal team to check your eligibility, give you a tailored document checklist, and review everything before you file. Choose Pro if you want our attorneys to prepare and submit the entire application on your behalf. Choose Premium if you also want us handling your arrival, from town hall registration and your TIE card to your Beckham Law or autónomo setup. If you are unsure, book a consultation and we will recommend the right level of support.
If your application is refused for any reason caused by our service, you receive a full refund of your professional fees. The Pro and Premium packages also include one appeal at no extra cost. Approval always rests with the Spanish authorities, but every application we handle is reviewed by licensed immigration attorneys in Spain before it goes anywhere near a case officer.
The standard requirements are a valid passport, a criminal record certificate from every country you have lived in during the past two years (apostilled and officially translated), proof of your income, comprehensive private health insurance valid in Spain, and proof of qualifications in the form of a university degree or three years of work experience. Every package includes a custom checklist tailored to your exact profile, so you will know precisely what applies to you.
If you spend more than 183 days a year in Spain, you generally become a Spanish tax resident. The good news is that many remote workers qualify for the Beckham Law, a special regime that can significantly reduce your income tax rate. We assess your eligibility as part of the process, and the Premium package includes the application itself.
No, we are not affiliated with the Spanish government nor are we a government entity. We are an independent legal service provider that works with licensed attorneys in order to provide legal assistance, application services, and guidance.
Yes. Your Spanish residency gives you visa-free travel across the 26-country Schengen area for as long as your permit is valid. And Spain is a long-term play too: after five continuous years of legal residence you become eligible for permanent EU residency, and after ten you may apply for Spanish citizenship.
